We Were Young
We wore out our shoes On the cracked old road Pocket full of loose change And a heart too bold We laughed too loud At the edge of the field Ran past the fences Like the world would yield
Tell me where it goes When the summer burns Tell me why it feels Like the whole world turns
We were young We were wild We were fire in the blood We were young We were wild And we never said enough Hands up high Let it ride Let the years come through We were young We were wild And the world was new
Your name on my wrist With a blue pen line Cheap cologne, rain storms And a borrowed shine We made vows in the dark With our heads held high If we fell, we fell laughing If we lost, we tried
Tell me where it goes When the summer burns Tell me why it feels Like the whole world turns
We were young We were wild We were fire in the blood We were young We were wild And we never said enough Hands up high Let it ride Let the years come through We were young We were wild And the world was new
Take the cracks Take the scars Take the dust of who we are We still glow We still move With a little bit to prove
We were young We were wild We were fire in the blood We were young We were wild And we never said enough Hands up high Let it ride Let the years come through We were young We were wild And the world was new
