Goose at the Pharmacy

I saw a goose in the pharmacy Pacing by the cough syrup aisle It pecked at a box of bandages Then stared at me and smiled

It wore one shoe on its left foot And a feather stuck to its chin The cashier said, "Sir, please step back" The goose just wobbled in

It shook off rain from its wings Like it owned the whole place Every old sore in the room Sat up and made space

Goose at the pharmacy Goose at the pharmacy He knows what you need He knows what you need

Goose at the pharmacy Goose at the pharmacy Bring me that relief Bring me that relief

I bought some gum and a cold pack It took my receipt in its beak Then it led me past the vitamins To the shelf by the magazines

A kid said, "Mom, it's looking at me" And mom said, "Don't make a scene" But the goose bowed low to everyone Like a feathered pharmacy king

Late in the back by the coupons It found a lost blue glove It tucked it under one white wing Like a secret made of love

Then it hissed at the automatic door And vanished with a grin But I still hear those padded steps Each time I walk in

Goose at the pharmacy Goose at the pharmacy He knows what you need He knows what you need

Goose at the pharmacy Goose at the pharmacy Bring me that relief Bring me that relief
